In the Andes, Palccoyo experiences two well-defined seasons:

  • during the rainy period, which occurs between November and April, rainfall often comes with snow due to the high altitude of the colorful mountain range.
  • In the remaining months, from April to October, there is a dry and cold period, so it is common to find a frosty landscape where the temperature rarely exceeds 15 degrees Celsius even on very sunny days.

The optimal period to explore these breathtaking mountains is during the dry season, typically spanning from May to September or October. Weather conditions are significantly more agreeable during this time, characterized by sunny but chilly days. It’s an ideal opportunity to capture the iconic shot with the vibrant mountains as your backdrop.

In contrast, the rainy season, occurring from December to March, presents less favorable conditions for hiking.
